I’ve recently come across the Transition Towns movement. These guys, mainly in the UK, are aiming to adapt their local communities for a time when peak oil and climate change brings to and end the globalised economy and cheap energy and we are forced back on local community self-reliance or anarchy (in either the good or bad sense). It’s also sometimes referred to as “energy descent” – gradually reducing our energy needs.
