Bush on climate change

Apparently concerned about his legacy (nothing to worry about there, George), President Bush has announced new greenhouse gas emission targets for the US.

“To reach our 2025 [emissions] goal,” he said, “we will need to more rapidly slow the growth of power sector greenhouse gas emissions so that they peak within 10 to 15 years, and decline thereafter.”

This more rapidly slowing growth (think about it) will come about by the voluntary adoption of new technology. What that all amounts to, then, is emissions are still rising and the Administration isn’t actually doing anything about it.

At least he’ll be gone soon.
