A Dutch report (from the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency) said Chinese CO2 emissions rose 8% in 2007, accounting for two-thirds of the total global increase.
The report noted that a fifth of China’s CO2 came from the production of cement, mainly because half of the world’s cement production takes place in China.
China now accounts for 24% of the world’s CO2 emissions. The US produces 22%, EU 12%, India 8% and Russia 6%.
